A sad day

Just a quick update to offer my codolences to all parents and friends of today's victims of the the event we all know about.  I hope and I pray  they'll find the courage to go through these events with the help of God.   Violence brings nothing, only desolation, and I'm sure you will all learn from this terrible day that we will all remember. If I can do something (who knows...), don't hesitate.

Hi everyone.  I'm back !!! Don't worry the project is still alive.  I had a lot of work at my job (65-70 hours / weeks) for the past two months and I wasn't really in mood to work on the emulator or even to update the webpage. I also want to give my apologies to everyone who wrote me.  I read every e-mail but I didn't had time to reply.  Sorry.  Oh, by the way, please don't send me large files (>200kB).  I'll give you an alternate e-mail if you need to send me large ones.  And thanks to the ones who are sending nasty e-mails...  That helps me a lot !  (with a touch of irony)

I had a few offers to host my website so I plan to move soon on a faster and more reliable server.  I also took some pictures of the Wonderswan and cart internals.  I'll build the download section tomorrow.   Please remember that I haven't worked on the emu for the past 2 months so please don't ask me where you can download the emulator.

For now, it's becoming more and more obvious that the Wonderswan will never make its way here :o(   However, it's a good motivation to continue to work on the project.  I'm also aware of a currently working B&W wonderswan emu.  Congratulations to the author !  Also, I had some request for tech info so I plan to make public these info I've collected so far.  Well, that's all for today !

Hello.  Finally, a new facelift for my Homepage. (thanks to Vinxent Kray !!! It's very nice !). If the site looks funny on your browser, let me know.  Also, I finally got my FF1 cart and I'm currently "inspecting" it.  Here's what I found :

I'll post some picture as soon as my friend lend me his digital camera.  (and maybe some FF1 screenshots from the actual WSC handheld).  I'm also building the download section with schematics etc...

Hi !  Excuse me for the lack of updates; I’m quite busy these days.  So here’s some “spiffy news” (thanks to retrogames ;) ) about the project status.  First of all, I want to thanks some people for their precious help particularly Judge_, Crimson Phoenix, NesRoms, Jerry, and everyone who offered their help.  I’ve got more info than I thought possible thanks to Judge_ !  However, I’m still looking for palettes definitions info (which is quite different from b&w Wonderswan I suppose).

I received a WonderSwan color few weeks ago (thanks Crimson Phoenix, I owe you one ;) ) .  If anyone has info on CART DUMPER or FLASH CARD, please let me now.  Otherwise, I guess I’ll need to spend some time on hardware design.  Wonderswan cartridge connector pinout would be greatly handy too.

Concerning the status of the emulator, the CPU core is still not finished.  The debugger is finished and as soon as I find palettes definitions info, I’ll finish the Tile Viewer.  There’s nothing done about sound.  As always, if you have info about i80186 (working cpu core etc), or anything else concerning the WonderSwan Color, don’t hesitate to leave me a message.

Also, a new Website is on its way (thanks Vinxent) and should be up relatively soon.

Also, here’s a link to a great Final Fantasy I page  (Nes & Wsc).

Hi everyone ! A little update just to mention that the project is still alive. I had to read a lot about Intel architecture and instruction set (I hate x86 architecture, believe me). A guy contacted me recently to offer me a Wonderswan console (Thanks again). That will be greatly handy . If anyone can help me to find a Final Fantasy I cartridge, that would be great. This way, I'll be able to compare the output of the emulator to the real thing. For all of those FF fanatics, a first version of the emulator will be released when I'll be able to show up some FF screenshots. Well, I gotta go back to work so come back again later for other news !

I spent the weekend reading datasheets and doing a bit of programming. I decided that the first version would be built using C++ Builder instead of Visual C++. There will probably be a performance hit but It'll allow me to release a version sooner. Later, I'll rebuild the emulator using Visual C++. By the way, don't expect the emulator to run at 60 fps on a P-200 ! (well, not the first release !).

I want to apologize if I can't reply to everyone, I'm getting a lot of E-Mail... Thanks for all of those who offered help and especially Judge who gave me a lot of hints. As I expected, I'll probably need a real WonderSwan color console to progress further but for now, I concetrate my efforts on emulating the CPU instructions. If I ever get a real Wonderswan, I'll use a deep memory logic analyzer (kind of digital oscilloscope with a lot of lines to monitor memory and addressing). That should reveal or solve a lot of strange behavior. When I'll have time, I'll add a progress page where you'll be able to see the progress of the project...

Well, I got a car accident a few hours ago... I lost my car and if it wasn't enough, the "?"%? cop gave me a ticket because I tried to avoid a parked truck on a double-lined way. Dammit. Concerning the project, I'm beginning to have enough documentation for now. As someone said to me recently, the best way to progress in Wonderswan developement is to experiment. So the future days will be consacred in experiments and I'll try to document the process so if anyone is interested in the future.

Without car, I'll have more time to spend on the project ehhehe (and less with my girlfriend... I hope things will arrange soon). Thanks for all of those who wrote me for info or comments. I hope to be able to sleep after all this.

Well, I thought that it would be easier to catch people's attention. Today, I looked on ebay to find Wonderswan Color console but they're too expensive. Anyway, I don't really need one for now. I finished the implementation of the GUI and now, I REALLY NEED more technical info. If someone could open his or her WonderSwan console and tell me the processor type, it would be GREAT. Also, if someone is working with the WonderWitch development kit, please contact me.

Today, I spent the day looking for information and, as you can see, I've set up this little WebSite. I know it's not the prettiest WebSite but I don't plan to spend the half of my precious time on the design of a WebSite. However, if someone have some spare time to contribute to this WebSite, please contact me.

Finally, after a long reflection, I decided to go on with my new project : White Swan. Even if the information about this system is quite rare, I'm sure that you folks will support me during the development of this wonderful project. If you want to help me, I've set up a little list of things that you can do to give me a chance in the development of the White Swan.
